more football, more school drama...

The boys both had games this past weekend. We dropped Jacob off to his coach at 12:30.. and headed to Joeys game. His game was at 2:15 in one town, and Jacob had to be at warm up in a different town at 2:45.. Joey played well, very well... they ended up losing 7-0. Then we hightailed it to Jacob game.. Thankfully it started 20 mins late so we made it just in time for kick off. They played alright, but got beat 13-6.. I dont think either boy is going to have an awesome kick butt team.. I think both will be lucky to finish 50/50.. but as long as they learn something and have fun doing it that is all that matters.

Now for the school drama.. Without boring you too much, Jess was denied a 504 plan. They basically want to make all the accomidations, but they want to do it informally so they dont have federal laws to hold them accountable to sticking to it. Obviously this didnt setlle well with us. So, after a post on the diabetes website, and few emails.. we got a call from a lawyer who said his form wants to represent us..PRO BONO!!!! for free!!! He has written a letter that we will be sending out tomorrow challenging the decision, and then he is also gonna call the 504 coordinator and see if they will remeet before dragging it into the appeal process. We have also contacted the Office of Civil Rights, and the school district is being looked at because of several discriminations against Jess..and the proof of them is in the hand written notes from the 504 coordinator that she gave me at the meeting.

On the good note, her teacher is wonderful again this year.. The school nurse is a whole different story.. She is by far the laziest person I have ever met in my life.. Nurse Susan ( school nurse last year) set high standards and the new one doesnt even come close to the bottom of Susan!!! Hopefully we can get the whole thing sorted through quickly and be able to enjoy the rest of the year knowing Jess is getting the care she deserves.

Also, Jacob and Joey are both loving school. Joey really seems to like his teacher and friends from his class. Jacob has set goals for having straight As and perfect attendence this year. They both are very capable of wonderful grades.
